i ordered a cable tv box... and its been 5 days, ships UPS , why so slow?

I had Vivint for over ten (10) years. Recently, Telus bought the Vivint customers in Canada. Prior to the purchase by Telus the customer service was the best that I have ever had. I was always able to talk to someone and resolve things right away. Telus has tried to automate customer service and now it is atrocious. The chat bot in the Security app is useless. I tired several times and it sent me around in circles. I just spent over 20 minutes on hold trying to get a human so I can order a replacement smoke detector. 60 minutes later it was sorted out. When I mentioned the wait time I received the usual "we have had higher call volumes than normal" nonsense. Telus, cut the salaries of the executives and hire more people to give us better service. Customer service is one of the things that we pay you for and you have failed to deliver good customer service.

Decided to change from Shaw to TELUS as fibre installed in our area. While the internet speed is amazing the TV experience was awful with the new wifi Android boxes. In particular the sound quality is terrible (appears to go through a compression algorithm) with complete loss of audio richness. Picture quality is also inferior. Interestingly picture and sound were not too bad in the Netflix and Amazon apps. I wasted 2 days on this to eventually be told by tech support that this was not something that could be fixed as the new equipment is designed as a “streaming” experience. So I am back with Shaw with 1G download and 200M upload and am happy.

It's a Canadian telco, nobody comes here to praise an oligopoly but at least their FiOS is reliable and light years ahead of the cable guys. Not a fan of offshoring customer service but most transactions can be accomplished through their website now, though it can be time-consuming it's best to avoid calling if at all possible. Over the years we've been customers of Bell, Rogers and Shaw at different points and for various services but Telus overall has given us the best network performance for both home and mobility over the past 5 years.
