I finished the course, all 88 levels. it was..

I finished the course! all 88 levels in the Mandarin Blueprint Method Course as well as the Pronunciation Mastery Course and the Speaking and Listening Course. after a year and a half of consistent study using MBP as my base, I have to say I couldn't be happier and its definitely WORTH IT. its structured well, its engaging, and their Methods feel a bit like magic honestly. I'm surprised everyday how I can retain so many characters, even if it’s a bunch of fresh new characters from just the day before or from months past, no matter the volume I shove into my brain, it mostly sticks. I even used supplementary material and courses along the way, and in terms of learning characters, this has to be the #1 way. although they have plenty of material for reading/listening to use for comprehensible input, it thins out near the end, although, by then, we're at a good enough level to be finding our own interesting native content. it's thought out, improving constantly, and now with the new community platform on Skool, there is probably no better time to start than now!

Brilliant Chinese Language Course

Hi Luke and Phil. The reason I started doing the Hanzi movie course was because I'd seen a short video on YouTube where you talked about the character 地 Dì meaning Earth, and the way you described it was so accurate and vivid I never forgot it. So that made me think I should subscribe and learn on this course. I've been living in Hong Kong for 20 years and speak some Cantonese. I'm also a practicing Buddhist and learned some Mandarin through my chanting practice, etc. And while I have learnt to read and write a certain amount, it was all by rote. Similar to you, I had trouble remembering characters even after I thought I had mastered them; many of them kind of evaporated. Your introduction to the movie-making process, with its use of actors, scripts, sets, etc., and the construction of a mind-palace where I could reconstruct the meaning of words and sounds and contextualise them, etc., really works for me and has greatly improved my writing and reading skills. I frequently travel to the mainland because I own a property there, but I find it challenging because most of the street signs and other signage are in simplified Chinese. This is very different from Hong Kong, where traditional characters are used and a significant portion of the population are bilingual, as are street signs, etc. Therefore, it is crucial to have the ability to read simplified Chinese, which is different from traditional characters, and to understand how tones function. It has also been very helpful to comprehend how each initial and radical functions in relation to the pinyin chart. Your teaching has greatly sped up my comprehension of Chinese and stoked my desire to learn more. The knowledge I have gained thus far has also reassured me that things will only improve as I proceed through this course. Your ability to speak Mandarin fluently while admitting that you have faced difficulties in the past motivates me, and I can not wait to reach the point where I can communicate effectively and comprehend others without receiving that odd expression that says, "I do not understand what you are saying." Anyway, this course has been really beneficial to me, and I will recommend it to anyone learning Putonghua in addition to reading and writing. Many Hong Kong residents can speak Cantonese, but they struggle to understand Mandarin due to its tones, etc. So I think they could learn from you too, and I would definitely recommend them in this case. I am confident that I will continue to learn new things because of the course's great design, which includes a lot of cross-referencing and related topics. It means so much that I want to thank you for all of your help so far.

Mandarin Blueprint Method makes learning Chinese easy

The Mandarin Blueprint Courses make learning Chinese possible even for regularly over time working people like me. I started with the Pronunciation Mastery Course, which I highly recommend (Pronunciation explained at a logopedic level). Another course I highly recommend, is the Habit Building Bootcamp, to give you an idea of what the best environmental and mind setting should look like for language learning. I took a lot of benefit out of these. I developped a steady progress and I have fun with the Hanzi Movie Method. The benefit you get from the Mandarin Blueprint is learning the meaning, the writing of the Chinese character and the tone in one go. The associated flashcard app is perfectly prefilled and easy to work with.

Why did nobody tell me these things before?

I learned to speak Mandarine Chinese 50 years ago while living in Taiwan for 2 years. I felt very comfortable with communicating with others. After moving back to the US I have used my language as often as I could (which was not often) and did not continue learning so I lost much of my vocabulary and I never did learn to read or write much. Now I am back in Taiwan and having gone through this course I have learned thing I never knew, that I never knew existed. This was fantastic. I will need to go over some of the content but I feel I am better prepared to speak to my new chinese friends in a much more respectable and beneficial way. I am ow off to start my Mandarine Blueprint cours and learn this beutiful language. At 70 I have found you are never too old to learn if you put your heart into it.

When I started learning Mandarin…

When I started learning Mandarin Chinese I had no idea how to approach learning the characters. It wasn't until discovering Mandarin Blueprint on YouTube that opened my eyes to an easy and fun way of learning such a key aspect of Mandarin. I never thought I would learn over 100 characters, and counting, so quickly. I highly recommend this course to anyone with a serious interest in learning Mandarin.
